The Personality Traits That Will Get You Hired

Are you a curious person? Are you always eager to learn new things? Are you willing to help others with their work? If you possess one or all of the above personality traits, you might be someone that big companies like Google and Amazon are looking for.
你是一個好奇的人嗎?你總是渴望學習新事物嗎?你願意幫助他人完成工作嗎?如果你有上述其中一個或所有的特質,你可能是Google等大公司正在尋找的人。

Nancy Wang, former product manager for Google and current senior manager at Amazon, shared her opinions on the personalities of candidates on Quora, a social networking platform. She believes that the most successful candidates are naturally curious. These people pick things up quickly and always seek solutions to problems. Another trait that big companies are looking for is whether a person is comfortable being honest about what they don’t know and admitting it when they are wrong. Know-it-alls are the last kind of people a company wants to hire. Also, being willing to help others is seen as an important trait. This kind of person tends to be a better collaborator and more pleasant to work with, helping the whole team to achieve success.

Google前產品經理和Amazon現任高階經理王南西在Quora社群平台上分享自己對於應徵工作者特質的看法。她認為最成功的求職者都是天生好奇的人。這些人學習速度很快,而且總是在尋求問題的解決辦法。另一個大企業看重的特質是「對於自己未知的事物誠實以對」,且能在犯錯的時候勇於承認的人,而假裝自己什麼都會的人是公司最不想找的人。此外,願意幫助他人也被視為是一項重要的特質,這樣的人適合與他人合作,與他們共事也會較為愉快,可以幫助整個團隊達成目標。

Finally, Wang emphasizes that hiring people is not about testing how smart a candidate is or reviewing which university they went to. Being curious about answers, being honest about the unknown, and being a generous helper are the true qualities that a company should be looking for in their future employees.

最後,王女士提到應徵員工不是要測試他們有多聰明,或是檢視他們上的是哪所大學。對於答案感到好奇、對於未知事物誠實以對、願意幫助他人,這些才是公司看重的好員工特質。
